A hospital or healthcare organization’s management requires an excellent mind and good management skills. There are hundreds of patients and many interconnected systems. These attributes are necessary to be able to pursue a career in healthcare administration. Healthcare administration is a rapidly growing field. As such, more students are choosing to pursue a career as a healthcare administrator when they choose bachelor’s degrees. They apply their skills to the challenging but rewarding task of managing the vital institutions. This program provides cutting-edge skills for a rapidly growing field. High-skilled healthcare administrators are in high demand due to technological advances, especially in electronic medical records. This also means that these professionals are paid higher salaries than other healthcare workers. Diverse healthcare industries depend on graduates of healthcare programs, such as consulting firms, government agencies and hospitals. This has made the medical field competitive and complicated, which requires ambitious people.

This paper describes why healthcare administration is my dream career. I was researching different career options and gained a deep understanding of the job duties and academic requirements. I’m particularly interested in working with older adults and in pediatric institutions. While I admire these organizations, I have gained a new appreciation for their health-related services through my research while preparing for this study. I would like to work for a company that offers child or geriatric healthcare services. This assignment helped me understand the salary of a healthcare administrator and the potential career growth. A bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration can lead to many different career options. As I was trying to find the right job, I looked into other career options that might be of interest to me.

Despite being attracted to the field of pharmaceutical marketing, I had several setbacks that forced me to reconsider my career path. To be successful in this field, I needed to travel 75.0% of the time. To maintain my job quota, I might have to move to new places frequently. Due to the current economic climate and the drastic cuts in healthcare services, it was not an option to continue my career in sales and marketing. I began to rethink my options and did extensive research in the field of healthcare administration. After some time, I realized that this was the best career option for me. Since childhood, I’ve wanted to be able to use my talents and skills to help others. Although I’ve never liked the clinical side of hospitals, I was always interested in the business and management aspects of the healthcare industry.

Because healthcare administration involves more than technology and regulations, it requires students to engage all aspects of their academic and professional abilities. The primary curriculum is focused on developing significant stakeholders’ teamwork, understanding particular industry economics, and achieving healthy management strategy. To coordinate healthcare facilities, you must learn how to make changes that improve the company’s efficiency. This includes understanding complex data and developing strong organizational cultures. This involves improving one’s skills in information and communication technology, management, policy, ethics, and administration. This means that learners must be motivated at both the academic and professional levels to succeed in this phase of their career. In recent years, there has been a rise in demand for hospital administrators. This growth can be attributed to two main reasons. First, the Baby Boomers have reached fifty (Bowen 2020). This increases the healthcare requirements of older adults.

Second, healthcare institutions needed trained administrators to manage the daily operations and streamline operational processes in order to aid medical staff with their treatment and preventive care duties. The demand for home care services is increasing as a result of longer life expectancies and healthier lifestyles. Healthcare administrators coordinate many healthcare services across different settings, including hospitals, drug-abuse rehabilitation centers, hospitals, hospice institutions and outpatient clinics. It is important to know that hospital administrators who work in large hospitals could have specific roles. Administrators in smaller hospitals could manage daily operations in all departments. Administrators’ duties will vary depending on which organization they work for (Doyle 2019, 2019). Administrators are responsible for ensuring that the organization runs efficiently and providing appropriate patient care services, regardless of their location.

Administrators should be familiar with the business side of the institution as they play an important role in setting healthcare rates and budgets. A hospital administrator must be familiar with accounting and finance, and how to raise and spend funds properly (Bowen 2020). Hospital administration is crucial in keeping costs down. Healthcare administrators assist patients who do not have insurance to receive clinical assistance. This helps lower the overall cost of healthcare. They can help patients find ways to reduce their costs or enroll them into programs. The institution can waive costs if a patient is unable to pay for medical care and pass these costs on to other clients (Tevis & Kennedy 2020). To cover all costs, hospital administrators work with insurance companies.

Managers share similar duties with healthcare administrators, which is why they also earn high salaries. They are responsible for providing training to new employees. Hospital administrators are responsible for hiring new staff. They advertise vacancies and interview candidates. Healthcare administrators must find the best-qualified candidates for these positions and meet all patient’s needs (Bowen 2020). Healthcare administrators are vitally involved in support of the public regarding health issues. They work with hospital staff and also provide assistance to them. Many healthcare organizations offer special programs, such as outreach programs, that help the public understand new health issues (Doyle 2019, 2019). People also learn about the risk factors and ways to reduce them. Others help people to live healthier lifestyles by getting rid of smoking and becoming more active (Tevis & Kennedy 2020). Most healthcare providers offer these programs because they promote public health, lower the likelihood that someone might need medical assistance, and reduce health-related expenses.

Healthcare administrators play an important role in maintaining the hospital’s daily operations. Many physicians and nurses focus on providing medical assistance to patients and clients (Tevis & Kennedy, 2020). They perform exams, administer medications, and examine patients. Hospitals cannot function without other administrators who manage healthcare operations. They make sure that healthcare facilities are within their budgets, and they negotiate with suppliers and vendors to obtain better quality and lower prices for materials needed to meet patients’ needs (Doyle 2019, 2019). Many graduate schools offer degrees in Healthcare Administration, as well as other courses that teach learners about business aspects of working in the healthcare industry. Hospital administration is essential for developing and running public programs, as well as helping to run daily operations, providing support for all patients, and training new staff.

People often think about hospitals and healthcare facilities as doctors and nurses. However, they don’t consider the importance of healthcare administration. Behind the scenes, hospital administrators are responsible for supporting staff and processing insurance claims. They develop new programs, train new staff, and provide information and resources to the public. College students interested in healthcare administration should consider this job’s importance and how their degree can be applied. Healthcare administrators are often responsible for coordinating the activities of hospital staff and department heads. To enable everyone to work together efficiently, they integrate every department activity. Hospital administrators are, in essence, the backbone of organizations. They could also engage in multiple areas to gain a better understanding about how each department works. Healthcare administrators are crucial in the recruitment process as they make the final decision about who is hired for which positions, especially regarding top management ranks.
